| 834 | Obituaries | Antone Peter passed away at 82. | | On April 11, 2009, Antone Peter Katich, passed away at age 82. Antone was the son of Mary and Mike Katich. Mike immigrated to this country from Brac, Croatia and was a long time commercial fisherman in Puget Sound, the Salmon Banks and Southeast Alaska. Antone grew up in Gig Harbor, Washington and enjoyed a 55 year career fishing for salmon and herring in Puget Sound, the Salmon Banks and Southeast Alaska. He owned and operated the gillnet boat "Pacific Storm" for 30 years and participated in the Southern Southeast Alaska Gill Net Fishery. He was a long time member of the Southeast Alaska Gillnetters Association and made many friends in the commercial fishing industry over his long career. He also served in the US Coast Guard aboard the Icebreaker "Northwind" on which he crossed the Arctic Circle in 1952. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Evelyn Gagliardi, his son Peter and his wife Liz, daughter Mary and her husband Barry and grandson and granddaughter Nicholas and Jenna Katich. | | n/a |
